Piercing Aftercare

Aftercare and Cleaning Instructions

Congratulations! You just survived a new piercing and are going to be able to wear your new adornment with pride! Here are a few helpful tips for cleaning your new piercing and hardware and a few key things to not do while your piercing is healing.

Before cleaning your piercing and/or jewelry make sure to wash your hands. Anything you can do to make this process a clean one will greatly help your new piercing and the healing process.

For cleaning we recommend a pre-made sterile saline spray. 2-3 times a day. We have those available in stock in our store to make things easy! You can also pick up H2Ocean or Neilmed wound wash to help with your cleaning routines.

For oral piercings, you are going to want to clean the outside as described above, and for rinsing make sure to use ALCOHOL FREE mouthwash. 2-3 times a day and any time you eat/drink/smoke rinse out with at least water or salt water if you can. Clean your piercings 2-3 times per day for at least two weeks, after that if they are doing well you can go down to 1 or 2 times per day. LEAVE YOUR JEWELRY IN DURING THIS TIME.

Unless something happens and you absolutely have to change your jewelry, please let me know and I will get in to help you as soon as I can. Healing times vary for different types of piercings so please, feel free to ask me any questions.

DO NOT USE-- ALCOHOL, PEROXIDE, OR BACTINE.

Alcohol and peroxide are too harsh and can kill off your white blood cells before they can heal making your healing time longer. Bactine has a very drying effect and can cause the area around the piercing to crack and leave you with a higher chance of infection. And lastly, if you have any problems or questions, need help changing out your jewelry, or just want to come see me again, feel free to get in touch with me directly via one of our many available shop contact methods.
