Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare Aftercare and Cleaning Instructions

Congratulations! You just survived a new tattoo and are going to be able to wear your new ink with pride! Here are a few helpful tips for cleaning your new tattoo and aftercare during the healing process.

Inkshield: Your artist will apply a second skin like covering to your tattoo. This is called Derma Shield and will help protect your fresh tattoo without limiting your mobility. The first bandage will need to stay on for 24 Hours. Collection of fluids is completely normal and will include ink, blood and plasma from your tattoo. After 24 hours you may remove your bandage and gently wash your tattoo with antibacterial soap and pat dry. Do not run water directly on your tattoo at this point. If you would like, a second layer can be added at the shop for you free of charge. Your second bandage can be in place for 2-3 days. After removal of your second bandage, make sure to regularly wash, dry and moisturize your tattoo.

We recommend Tattoo Goo and Redemption organic aftercare ointment 1-2 times a day with just enough to cover your tattoo but not over-saturate as your skin needs to still breathe.

Here are some more tips to help maintain and heal your fresh tattoo. ● Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun ● Avoid working out or doing strenuous work ● When exposed to the sun, make sure to wear sunscreen (SPF 35) ● Wear loose clothes over the tattoo ● Apply a small amount of ointment or lotion; putting too much can suffocate the skin and cause healing issues ● Stay away from water and swimming (but you can take showers) ● Avoid covering the tattoo with sunblock until it’s healed ● Call your tattoo artist or doctor in case you notice any irritation, infection symptoms, or any other health and skin issues!
